Food Drives & Christmas Party

For over forty years, the Arlington Kiwanis has conducted food drives to benefit the Arlington Community Services food bank. Our club has collected thousands of pounds of food to distribute to needy families right here in Arlington.

Every December our members “adopt” four or five families served by Arlington Community Services and purchase gifts for the children of these families, which are distributed at a party given by our club. Santa passes out the presents, and we provide food, crafts, and games for the children. Often, these families are in temporary financial straits due to job loss or medical issues, and cannot provide Christmas cheer for their children. Over the years, the Arlington Kiwanis has stepped in to give these children, ranging in ages from birth to 12, some holiday cheer and in the process has made life a little happier for hundreds of children. In addition, we set aside a portion of the food collected in our food drive specifically for these families to help ease their burden after the holidays are over.

This annual tradition has become one of our favorite service projects over the years, and one of our most successful. If you would like to learn more, please contact us.
